Igreja de Santa Cruz - National Pantheon
Initiated in 1131, under the sponsorship of D. Afonso Henriques, and handed the Order of St. Cónegos Regrantes of Augustine. Among the notable who attended the school of the monastery, is of St. Anthony, which took the orders of Coimbra S. Francisco. The Romanesque church was the architect of French Roberto.
Works promoted by King Manuel I, it is assigned to the vaults Boitaca master, or the remarkable Manueline stalls in 1513, and whose crowning theme is referring to the Portuguese Discoveries. Deserve equal prominence to the royal orders Nicolau Chanterenne to the implementation of the present actual tombs in Renaissance style.

The facade of the Romanesque monastery exhibits structural elements in conjunction with the decoration of the portal, the sixteenth century. The triumphal arch which is above the front of the nineteenth century. At the back of all monastic, is the Cloister of Manga, beautiful Renaissance building of a purity of style rarely exceeded. The building formerly known as the Source of Manga, was at the center of one of the three cloisters of the Monastery of Santa Cruz. The Cloister of Silence is Manueline of the sixteenth century, and has four bas-reliefs with scenes from the Passion, written by Nicholas Chanterenne.
